Are there any specialized skills that must be present for the position to be successful:

1. Have technical understanding of advanced building design, energy efficient equipment, and renewable energy systems;

2. Have an understanding of, or experience with, complete energy modelling in one or more tools relied on by the listed building performance standards.

3. Have experience with evaluation of modelled or predicted performance in comparison to post-completion performance, i.e. Measurement & Verification (M&V).

4. Understand the construction industry, and the financial considerations of project developers and building owners.

Certifications and qualifications, including education/degree:

The ideal candidate should have a four-year degree, preferably in engineering, architecture or building sciences (professional license not required); and be credentialed as a design or energy consultant to a 3rd party standard such as Phius or PHI, or another standard that indicates they hold a comprehensive understanding of buildings, building science, and building design and construction.

 

The candidate will hold a detailed understanding of the high performance, carbon neutral, and clean energy building industries. Additionally, they will have experience with one or more performance standards and associated modeling tools relied on to model, measure, predict, or validate building performance, as follows:

ANSI/RESNET/ICC 301-20XX to support calculation of the Energy Rating Index; Phius; PHI and EnerPHit; ASHRAE 90.1 App. G; the EPA ENERGY STAR New Homes, Multifamily New Construction, Indoor airPLUS programs, and Portfolio Manager; the DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes program; Enterprise Green Communities; LEED; WELL; Fitwell, and ILFI.

IT systems that will be used:

Salesforce, complete MS Office 365 suite of programs, Adobe Pro, and the WebEx platform.

Tasks:

1. Collaborate with project teams to assemble and review cost-related documentation required of each awarded BOE project. (Currently 65 projects with more expected from future rounds of competition.)

2. Complete periodic review of project workbooks as project teams submit revisions at each project milestone, in prompt and thorough fashion in order to enable milestone payments to be made to project teams.

3. Collaborate with project teams to assemble and review predicted energy performance and the related operational costs required of each awarded BOE project, with goal of creating summary analysis at project and program level.

4. Complete detailed analysis of utility billing and energy consumption information (may involve data from multiple accounts and/or meters), including guiding project teams in procuring and providing necessary data.

5. Assemble the data detailed above, facilitating its publication on client BOE microsite and updating compiled data on a regular basis (at least quarterly, often monthly.)

6. Provide similar energy use analysis for each awarded CNCED project that provides post-occupancy data, if requested.

7. Identify information or analysis that can be made available for program-wide or project-specific case studies, working in collaboration with cient marketing department.

8. Build relationships with project team members (developers/owners as well as design team and/or energy consultants supporting team) in order to obtain required data in preferred format in timely fashion.

9. Provide higher level technical support to projects across the entire New Construction Team, including the completion of technical reviews of complex projects, energy models, and related submission on those occasions when that level of additional review is required.

Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction. Develops new projects and co-funding sources with own initiative. Carried out development of several projects through competitive solicitation phase that may or may not result from own initiative. Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area.

Organization Skills & Productivity:

Has demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner. Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of on-going projects with no supervision. Is able to prioritize workload with other responsibilities. Effectively discharges general technical and project management assignments in a timely manner. Demonstrates strategic thinking connected to the organization’s goals.

Leadership / Interpersonal Relations / Judgement:

Has demonstrated ability to effectively head working groups or program teams. Provides guidance to junior staff when appropriate and can supervise the day-to-day work of interns. Has full confidence of peers and superiors. People skills have developed to show leadership and an ability to motivate others.

Communication Skills & External Relations:

Has demonstrated ability to produce both written material and verbal presentations that are direct, recognize and focus on issues, are both comprehensive and concise and require editing only in most sensitive and complex areas. Is able to negotiate effectively with contractors and interface effectively with customers and other outside contacts.
