Data Scientist

PURPOSE

As a Data Scientist, your primary responsibility is to support the Information Management Team in implementing our strategic data management framework. This involves ensuring data visibility, understanding data interconnections, and assisting value streams in achieving their project objectives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Data Exploration and Analysis: You’ll delve into datasets, uncover patterns, and analyze data to extract meaningful insights.

Model Development: Creating and fine-tuning machine learning models, statistical algorithms, and predictive models is essential. These models help address real-world challenges.

Data Visualization: Effective communication of findings is crucial. You’ll create visual representations using charts, graphs, and dashboards.

Business Impact: Ultimately, your role aims to drive informed business decisions. Collaborating with teams to translate data-driven insights into actionable strategies is vital

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

ssential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Programming: High proficiency in Python, R, SAS, and SQL.
  • Statistics and Probability: Understanding of statistical concepts.
  • Data Wrangling and Database Management: Skills in data cleaning, transformation, and database handling.
  • Machine Learning and Deep Learning: Familiarity with relevant techniques and frameworks. Experience using Data Bricks would be a massive advantage.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to communicate findings effectively through the use of Power BI, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Advanced skills in managing & manipulating databases, both relational & non-relational
  •  Proficiency in data lineage techniques to track data origin, movement & transformation across systems.
  •  Familiarity with various data architecture frameworks & their implementation in enterprise environments.
  • Effective Business Stakeholder Management at All Levels: you’ll engage with diverse business teams to offer valuable insights into future performance. Your ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels will drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. Strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders from various business units.
  •  Skilled in managing expectations & delivering results that align with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with IT Colleagues & Subject Matter Experts:
  •  Proven ability to work closely with IT teams & experts to understand & solve technical challenges.
  •  Experience in facilitating cross-functional teams to gather requirements & develop IT solutions.
  •  Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements & vice versa.

EXPECTED QUALIFICATIONS/EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE

  • Practical experience with Databricks, including data wrangling and model development(essential)
  • Experience with using JIRA, Confluence, DevOps or GitHub
  • Experience using MS SQL Server, Oracle 11g and API’s
  • Experience using Power BI at a high level
  • Skilled in predictive modeling & data visualization techniques to support decision-making processes.
  • Proficiency in using statistical tools & software for data science based analysis
  • Expertise in interpreting complex data sets & translating them into actionable insights

  • Capable of effective teamwork with high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
  • Quick learner, adept at acquiring & applying new skills & knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, with strong organisational skills & the ability to work independently.

  • Able to navigate & balance diverse data science-related needs, including aspects of transparency, security, privacy, compliance & regulation.
  • Effective communication skills, both written & verbal, with the ability to present clearly at all organisational levels.
  • Systematic, disciplined & analytical in problem-solving.

OTHER

  • Role Location: This position offers remote work flexibility, with the possibility of on-site presence when needed.
