Purpose of Role:

Vehicle electrification is driving the most significant transformation the automotive industry has ever seen, and with over 700k vehicles, Motability Operations (MO) will play a vital role in the industry as we transition our customers to electric vehicles across the coming decade. Significant change is also being seen in the energy sector with the push to renewable energy sources leading to a rapidly changing ecosystem impacting companies, products and markets.

We are seeking an individual with experience in the energy sector for a new role which will coordinate data driven insight and qualitative research to identify opportunities for MO that will benefit Scheme customers.

Working in the Asset Risk division you will…

  • support the development and implementation of MO’s energy strategy roadmap
  • develop and maintain an outlook for the energy landscape – pricing, markets, technology, legislation & competition – capturing risks and opportunities for the automotive industry and MO in particular
  • develop and present expert knowledge at the intersection between energy and electric vehicles, including regulation, battery storage & energy markets, home and away EV charging tariffs, etc
  • develop a suite of statistical and qualitative reporting tools and provide informative, credible, data driven insights that feed the outlook and related activities
  • present the outlook, activities and insight to key internal stakeholders in a credible and balanced manner
  • maintain strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders to evolve & validate a cohesive view of the energy markets and MO activities
  • monitor energy & automotive related activities and market developments and appropriately feed into the outlook and stakeholder messaging
  • plan and coordinate the day-to-day events supporting energy activities
  • collaborate with the wider Asset Risk division to ensure a consistent outlook for the automotive & energy markets

  • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex information persuasively to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of seniority
 

Minimum criteria:

Essential:

  • A strong numerical/statistical background, e.g. mathematics, statistics, economics or other relevant discipline
  • Experience of working in an analytically oriented commercial environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence others
  • Excellent technical skills including Excel, statistical and data visualisation tools
  • Comfortable in transforming complex data into easily digested insights and with excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the energy space
  • Experience working within the automotive industry

About the team:

The Energy Analyst role sits within the Asset Risk division which has responsibility for managing the risk around MO’s vehicle assets and pricing, including:

  • Residual Values – MO’s largest financial risk worth over £9bn
  • Customer Pricing – over 250,000 car leases taken out every year
  • Insurance – unique 3-year cover included in the lease

 

The Asset Risk division has a strong academic background, with individuals often having backgrounds in economics, or STEM subjects. The division has recently benefitted from the delivery of a state-of-the-art data management system resulting in significantly improved analytical tools and capabilities. Your development is taken seriously, with 4 development days and an annual budget to spend on courses and materials that interest you.
